Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Hungarian is the main language, known for belonging to a different language family from the languages spoken in neighbouring countries. Most of the country is plains, with the Danube flowing north to south and Lake Balaton, one of Central Europe's largest lakes. It has a continental climate, with cold winters and hot summers. Its thermal bath culture, historic architecture and traditional cuisine are widely known.
